Jackie Altman and Eleanor Sweeney first met in 1964 in Mott Chapin's evening ceramics class. They had both just moved to Saranac Lake. After two years teaching art here, Jackie moved back to Pennsylvania where she remained for the rest of her teaching career. Eleanor stayed In Saranac Lake, but the two friends kept in touch and saw each other every year when Jackie would come up to spend the summer painting.
Now retired, Jackie spends several months a year in Lake Placid where she continues to paint full time. Meanwhile, Eleanor has been photographing the world around her all through the years. Both are members of the Adirondack Artists' Guild. A show at the Paul Smiths College VIC, "Two Friends...After All These Years," will commemorate their long friendship.
The exhibit opens on Saturday, 15 September with a reception from 4:00 - 6:00 PM. Everyone is welcome.
